Contemporary architect-led modular

Flat roofs, floor-to-ceiling glass, modernist proportions — the category Loghouse can't enter without rebranding.

The biggest gap in the Irish modular market is contemporary architect-led design — flat roofs, floor-to-ceiling glazing, modernist proportions. Loghouse's "Contemporary" range is still a log cabin with bigger windows; this page lists the operators who actually build the glass-and-frame aesthetic that Grand Designs viewers come asking for.

Why Loghouse can't deliver this

Loghouse's whole product system is interlocking solid-timber walls. The aesthetic ceiling of that system is "premium log house" — beautiful in its own right, but it can't credibly do flat-roof glass-box modernism. They've never tried, and the factory tooling wouldn't support it. To get contemporary you have to go to operators built around panel construction (SIPs, CLT) or steel-frame.

Planning note: The proposed 25 m² planning-exempt rule (expected in 2026) covers most of the studio-sized contemporary units listed above — KODA Loft, Moho Studio Cube, ÖÖD Mirror, Brette Haus foldable. If your site is already a residential garden, you may not need planning permission at all.

What ourhouse.ie does on top

Most of the providers above are factories in Estonia, Latvia, Scotland or Ireland. For the Baltic operators we handle escrow (funds at AIB/BoI, released on factory milestones), pre-shipment inspection, and Irish-side delivery / groundworks coordination. The factory builds; we make sure the money and the unit show up in the right order. Read more on vs Loghouse or compare contemporary models side-by-side.
